November 18-20, 2016
For students from the following areas: Boston, New England Boarding Schools, Fairfield/Westchester Counties, New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
(Students from GWA may only attend Charlottesville Weekend. GWA students who have attended Internship may choose either program.)
Meet with old friends and make new ones! Students in grades 9 - 12 from the Boston, New England Boarding School, Fairfield/Westchester counties, New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore areas are all invited to come enjoy an autumnal weekend with FOCUS at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. The weekend will be a mixture of fun games, thoughtful talks, great music, and down-time spent on the historic campus of Princeton University and in the town of Princeton itself.
The program fee of $115 covers all program activities, the Saturday night concert, as well as most meals and snacks Friday through Sunday. Saturday's lunch in the town of Princeton will be covered by the students individually.
Please contact your local area staff if you would like to apply for a scholarship.
Your FOCUS area director may organize group transportation to and from Princeton Weeekend. Please contact him or her for details. The home office can also help you with travel plans. There is a train stop that comes directly into Princeton University, and we can provide driving and parking directions for those who arrive by car.
Suggested Packing List
Students will be sleeping on a gymnasium floor, females in one gymnasium and males in a separate gymnasium. You will need to pack all linens (we suggest a sleeping bag and pillow), a sleeping mat (we suggest that all students bring a sleeping mat as they will not be provided), a towel, and toiletries. We also suggest you bring comfortable shoes and comfortable clothes for indoors and outdoors. Please feel free to bring any musical instrument, a notebook, camera, or sports equipment.
Please Do Not Bring
Alcohol, illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia, computers, or iPads/tablets. You may bring iPods or similar devices to listen to music, but we request that students not watch videos on them. If any student is found with such items, those items in question will either be confiscated until the end of the program, or, in the case of alcohol or illegal drugs, the student may be sent home early. FOCUS is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items during the program.
